New Delhi, Jan 14 (PTI) :Senior Lawyer and MP Ram Jethmalani, who had offered to represent Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi in the National Herald case, withdrew his support after the Congress refused to let the Parliament function.
Jethmalani had made the offer to Congress party president Sonia Gandhi in a letter on 10 December 2015, pleadging his support to Congress in the case filed by BJP member Subramanian Swamy.
He published the letters on his personal blog on Thursday.
The former BJP leader told Gandhi that as a senior practicing counsel and Parliamentarian he was “not happy” with what has been happening in the Rajya Sabha House “for the last few days”.
The institution of Parliament is suffering total loss of public respect. This does not augur well for Indian democracy.
Jethmalani published the letter on his blog. He told Gandhi that he neither needed any fees nor any other favour from her.
Concluding the letter in which he had also referred to himself as an “expelled” member of the BJP and “you know my role in recent Bihar elections”.
My services will be service to the nation. I hope you will allow the Parliament to function the normal way.
