Jethmalani Withdrew Support to Sonia,Rahul in National Herald Case

New Delhi, Jan 14 (PTI) :Senior Lawyer and MP Ram Jethmalani, who had offered to represent Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi in the National Herald case, withdrew his support after the Congress refused to let the Parliament function.

Jethmalani had made the offer to Congress party president Sonia Gandhi in a letter on 10 December 2015, pleadging his support to Congress in the case filed by BJP member Subramanian Swamy.

He published the letters on his personal blog on Thursday.

The former BJP leader told Gandhi that as a senior practicing counsel and Parliamentarian he was “not happy” with what has been happening in the Rajya Sabha House “for the last few days”.

The institution of Parliament is suffering total loss of public respect. This does not augur well for Indian democracy.

Jethmalani published the letter on his blog. He told Gandhi that he neither needed any fees nor any other favour from her.

Concluding the letter in which he had also referred to himself as an “expelled” member of the BJP and “you know my role in recent Bihar elections”.

My services will be service to the nation. I hope you will allow the Parliament to function the normal way.

I suggest Modi to bring an Ordinance so that No case is filed against any of the dirty Politicians and the very Rich there by a lot of lawyers and judges will have lot of time to clear the poor mans appeals pending in the courts for years. All commissions of enquiry, C B I enquiry against politicians is waste of money and time.

when bjp was in opposition from 2009 to 2014 they never ever allowed to function the parliament and they never ever allowed to pass the bill i.e. gst, fdi etc etc.and they opposed adhar and after they came to power in 2014 these people took u-turn, then why congress should allow them to function. why that time jetmalani was silent.

    Yes ayes,
When BJP was in opposition they stalled parliament. And when they come to power then ruling congress is stalling parliament.
    There is similarity.
reason on both terms is corruption by congress party. there is too similarity.
BJP stalled Parliament for scam by congress
Congress stalled parliament because of scam by congress.

Congress Party itself having very strong lawyers like Kapil Sibal, Abhishek Manu Singhwi, Ashwini Kumar etc. Then Why they need very old lawyer?? Sonia refused because National Herald is very weak case and Kapil Sibal alone enough to throw this case to dust bin.

This shows the gravity of the case. A fresh lawyer also can win this case.Sonia does need this famous lawyer because the case has no base.

Jethmalani is so sure that there is no truth in the case and Swamy is wasting tax payers money.
He might have taken in crores from Amma Jaya for not appealing the case in SC.

Jetmalani is known subramnya swamy's detractor. He would take any case to defeat swamy... and in this national herald case, he would have made a fortune by defending the richest family in india.. then why is he withdrawing? the case looks really tough for him to crack?. IN the past he has hardly lost a case, but this potential loss can bring him disgrace that all his past wins will be forgotten by the public? whatever.. if this leads to smooth running of Rajyasabha, it is good news for indians

Henry, Mr. Jethmalani is a disgusting old man, but a very good and imminent Lawyer with great success rate, his fees are very high, but he gives value for the money. He finds loopholes in the case & fights smartly.

BJP has kicked him out for his frequent outburst, but he spoke the truth about them. He also spoke the truth about congress disrupting parliament everyday and wasting tax payers money.

Grand old party which had great ethics & good moral values has now become corrupt & frustrated.
Everyone knows BJP is radical & without any ethics, but that does mean congress has to follow them.

We just watched a documentary on Asia International Channel & BBC, about National Herald case.

National Herald is a serious case, with fraud & corruption, this case will not be solved so easily and will be dragged to the supreme court, this is the clear opinion & expert opinion from experienced & imminent International Lawyers & journalist on the discussion panel.

It is so sad to see Gandhi family has been dragged to the court & they had to make a personal appearance in the court for the first time in history, courtesy of Dr. Subramanium Swamy.

No one is above the law, law is the same for everyone. No easy way out in this case.

Dr. Swamy please drag Mr. Arun Jaitley also to the court and expose his corruption and so as many corrupt leaders, regardless of the party.

Jethmalani is not showing any stability with regard to his offer to plead National Herald Case on behalf of Gandhi family which may be because of his old age.
