New Delhi/Thiruvananthapuram, Jan 17 (IANS): Leaders of the BJP and newly formed Bharath Dharma Jana Sena (BDJS) of Vellapalli Natesan held talks in New Delhi on Sunday on their possible alliance in Kerala.

State Bharatiya Janata Party chief Kummanam Rajasekheran, his predecessor V. Muraleedharan and BDJS leader and Natesan's son Tushar Vellapalli held a meeting with national BJP president Amit Shah on the matter.

The assembly elections in Kerala are likely to be held in April/May this year.

Natesan, a Hindu Ezhava leader, launched his political party last year. Natesan heads the powerful Sree Narayana Dharma Paripalana Yogam, a social organisation of the Hindu Ezhava comunity.

"We discussed the overall political scenario in Kerala, where a strong resentment prevails against the fronts led by the leftist opposition and the ruling Congress. Talks were held on how to appraoch the coming assembly polls. More talks will be held in Kerala," Rajasekheran told reporters in Delhi after the meeting.

The first round of parleys for the new alliance were held by Rajasekheran at Natesan's residence on December 26.

The upcoming 'yatra' of Rajasekheran later this month from Kasargode district in north Kerala also came up for discussion at Sunday's meeting.

Union minister M. Venkaiah Naidu will flag off the rally while union Home Minister Rajnath Singh will be the chief guest at the yatra's culmination in the state capital next month.

The BJP is yet to open its account in the 140-member Kerala assembly.
