High alert across Odisha ahead of Republic Day

Bhubaneswar, Jan 24 (IANS): A high alert has been sounded across Odisha ahead of the Republic Day celebrations, Director General of Police (DGP) K.B. Singh said on Sunday.

Four-tier security arrangements have been put in place in the state capital for the celebrations, he added.

In view of a security threat information received from intelligence bureau and other security agencies, a high alert has been sounded across the state.

All district collectors and superintendents of police have been asked to stay alert during the Republic Day celebrations, Singh said after inspecting a full-dress rehearsal at the Mahatma Gandhi Marg here.

He said extra security measures have been taken for Maoist-affected districts of the state.

Governor S.C. Jamir will unfurl the Tricolour and take salute at the parade at the state-level Republic Day celebrations in Bhubaneswar.
