'Feel sad for ordering firing on Karsewaks in 1990': Mulayam Singh Yadav

Lucknow, Jan 25 (PTI): About 25 years after the incident, Samajwadi Party Chief Mulayam Singh Yadav on Sunday said he "felt sad" for ordering firing on 'karsewaks' in Ayodhya in 1990 but it was necessary to save the religious place.

Yadav, who was the then Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, had ordered firing on karsewaks in Ayodhya in 1990 in which 16 people were killed.

"I feel sad for firing on Karsewaks but it was necessary to save the religious place (Babri Mosque)," Yadav said while addressing party workers at party headquarter in Lucknow on occasion of birth anniversary of socialist leader Karpoori Thakur.

Yadav said when the then Leader of Opposition Atal Bihari Vajpayee had mentioned the incident in Parliament, he had replied that it was necessary to order firing.

"He would have not considered his decision, if more lives would have gone to save the religious place," he said, mentioning his replying in Parliament.

Addressing the party workers, Yadav came down heavily on party ministers saying, "he knew what they were doing. If they (ministers) have to earn money they should quit politics and start business".

All bloody politicians shed crocodile tears. BJP will never build the temple but they will keep the issue burning so that they can incite riots and win future elections . Congress and the opposition will cry hoarse over the same and incite more riots. In the end, common man will suffer.

    Dear Sri,
For your kind information, constitutional amendment can not be made just like lifting Maggi ban.
I fully agree, if there is will power in people, things will surely change.
My comments are just because you mentioned what was there before in the same site?
    It can always change right?
Take my comments sportingly! No hard feelings please!

Mulayam didn't get any foothold in Bihar, therefore this statement.
In a way it's good, If number of entities in politics reduce. Voters won't get confused about their leaders, they will know who their leader is and votes don't get divided.
Without much effort, Merger is taking place and shape.

2 prominent members in Indian Politics, Sharad Pawar & Mulayam Singh Yadav, known fence sitters, always change their stand.
One who takes a firm stand and leads is known to be a leader.
One who change what he stood for and lead is confused, directionless, doesn't qualifies to be a leader.
I am Not saying what he did or said was right or wrong!
But his stand is not clear!
Their voters will not adjust their thoughts to suit their leaders.
Voters composition will change. They will switch loyalties, some will add and some will go.

Will it be wrong to call the statement as majority appeasement politics...?

This comment by Mulayam singh reminds me of LK Advani's comment on Jinnah (as secular).

Inner voice always prevail when human being grow old.

Coming back to the underlying substance in Mulayam's statement is that "KAR SEVAKS WHO CAUSE THE FALL OF BABRI MASJID AT AYODYA PROBABLY REFLECT INNOCENCE, MAY BE KARSEVAK'S DID WHAT THEY ARE TOLD TO DO"

    Jai Ho..,
