Udupi, Jan 26: The members of Anganwadi centre, along with local villagers, held a protest demonstration outside the Anganwadi, Adarshnagar-II on Monday, January 25 seeking justice against transfer of Anganwadi assistant.
Shalini, Anganwadi-II teacher said, “Assistant, Malani took a voluntary transfer as per her convenience and on Saturday, January 24 left the school without bringing it to the notice of any locals or teachers.”
“At present, there are 20-24 children in the Anganwadi. During the pulse-polio or field work, it becomes difficult to maintain children for three months without any assistance,” she said.
When reconciliation committee contacted Children development officer, Sangeetha ME, she refused to comment on the incident saying that she did not have any information regarding the transfer.
It is learnt that Malini received the transfer order on Wednesday, January 13 but the transfer order letter shows that she had put her signature in the school register up to January 22 despite being absent.
The villagers and the committee requested Malini to continue her work for temporary period, until the Anganwadi finds a new assistant.
Upendra Nayak, former zilla panchayat president urged supports from public and government in solving the problem.
Susheela Suda, district secretary, Anganwadi employees Sangh, Mahesh Takoor, Krishna Bhat and others were present.
