Mangalore, Sep 9: Large number of supporters of former minister, Ramanath Rai, who was appointed as president of Dakshina Kannada District Congress Committee, welcomed him at Mangalore Airport on Sunday, Sep 9 evening.
Ramanath Rai was on personal visit to Bahrain, returned here on Sunday.
The Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) has officially announced the appointment of Ramanath Rai as president of District Congress Committee, on Saturday Sep 8. Hence, the Congress activists of his native, Bantwal constituency were on the state of celebration since Saturday.
Speaking to media persons, Ramanath Rai stated that, he will give first priority to strengthen the Congress party in the district. The party will get more seats in the coming Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) and local body elections in the district, than in the past, he asserted.
The party activists will work collectively to strengthen party in the coming days. Suggestions will be taken from district and state level party leaders on all the occasions, he informed.
