Udupi, Sep 10: A meeting of the reception committee of the Akhila Bharata Kannada Sahitya Sammelan held here on Sunday, resolved to hold the sammelan as per the schedule from October 25 to 28.

Executive president of the committee MLA K Raghupathi Bhat presided over the meeting. He said though there was uncertainty regarding transfer of power in the State, there would not be any hurdle.

Unlike previous years, the Government had earmarked Rs 1 crore in the Budget for this endeavour.

Arrangements have been made to release Rs 25 lakh in the first instalment, Bhat added.

General secretary Uppunda Chandrashekhar Holla said that applications had been invited from publishers, book dealers and entrepreneurs to reserve book stalls at the venue.

Tenders had been called to construct the venue and the stalls. Last date for calling the quotation has been fixed at September 14.

To meet the initial expenses, Rs 2 lakh rupees has been received from the Central Committee of the Kannada Sahitya Parishat, Holla added.
