Al Ain, Sep 12: Neelam Upadhyay, Principal, Indian School, Al Ain, was honoured with the prestigious National Award for teachers, by the Government of India.
President of India, Smt. Pratibha Patil, presented this coveted award on Teachers Day – 5th of September, 2007 at an official ceremony at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi. In India, Teachers Day is celebrated every year on 5th of September in honour of an eminent teacher and ormer Indian President Dr. S. Radhakrishnan.
National Award for teachers was introduced in 1958 with the objective of raising the prestige of teachers and is given as a public recognition to the meritorious services of outstanding teachers working in various educational institutes.
This year Neelam Upadhyay was the only recipient of this award from U.A.E. among the CBSE affiliated, independently managed schools in foreign countries.
With over 28 years of teaching & administrative experience, she is associated with Indian School, Al Ain, since 1985 & has played an eminent role for the development & upliftment of education in the region.
Upadhyay, has also been closely associated with the Council of more than 100 CBSE affiliated schools in the Gulf since its inception and was the convenor of UAE Chapter during the year 2003 – 04. She dedicates this award to the collective achievement of one & all associated with Indian School, Al Ain.
