It may be recalled here that Kingfisher chairman Vijay Mallya had promised in early 2006 in Mangalore that as soon as permission from the union civil aviation ministry was received, flights to stations like Goa, Chennai, Belgaum and other places would be introduced.

It may be too early to conclude that the IXE-Goa flight would go the IXE-Chennai way. The condition of the highway is very bad and for the people using their own vehicle for their Goa trip would prefer to take a flight than driving down for more than 7 to 8 hrs one way.The proposed route might be a profitable one for the airline.

To introduce flights between Mangalore and Goa - and between Mangalore and Calciut is indeed a step in the right direction. It is matter of delight to The Mangalorean Community that a man of the soil is forging ahead in air transport industry to provide the best possible comforts to the traveling public.

I have occasions of meeting Mr. Vittal Malya and I then felt that he did a great job as an enterpreneur. It is good to see that his son is walking in the footsteps of his father and bringing credit to Mangalore and the mangalorean community.

I think this will be on experimental basis. One can recall, Kinfisher experimented in Mangalore-Chennai sector and later withdrew the services, as there was lack of demand. I believe, it is too early to connect Mangaluru with neighbouring small cities which, are hardly 6 hours drive from the city.

Rather Kingfisher can think of connecting Mangalore with Delhi, atleast 3 times a week. I feel this will go with the same line of Mangalore-Chennai sector.
