Mangalore, Sep 13: City police teams headed by police inspector Jayant Shetty and sub-inspectors Sudarshan and Pramod successfully arrested 5 inter-district thieves near Bappanadu Saptagiri towers on Thursday, September 13.
The arrested persons have been identified as Syed Atik Imran of Battemallappa village in Shimoga, B K Mahesh of Siddapur village in Coorg, Umesh Naika of Nagenahalli village in Kadur taluk, Ibrahim of Balehonnur village in Chikmaglur and H R Charan of Heggodlu village in Mudigere taluk.
The police team was waiting for them after receiving a sure tip-off their arrival on a car. When police tried to stop their vehicle, they raced ahead. But the police chased them and intercepted the car near Saptagiri towers.
The police have seized 2 sabres, chilly powder and three iron rods from the accused. Sources said that, the arrested are the close associates of notorious Kamradi Haneef. The Maruti car they were using was stolen two days ago at Sagar in Shimoga district, sources added. A case has been registered at Mulki police station.
