Court extends ex-engineer's custody by five days


Ghaziabad, Feb 10 (IANS): A CBI court here on Wednesday further extended by five days the CBI custody of ex-Noida chief engineer Yadav Singh.

Yadav Singh, then chief engineer of the NOIDA/Greater Noida/Yamuna Expressway, has already spent six days in the custody of the Central Bureau of Investigation.

The CBI presented a huge quantity of material related to the case in the court of Special Judge G. Sridevi.

It sought an eight-day remand saying it needed to unearth the corrupt practices from among 2,000 files related to the wrongful award of contracts. 

Lawyer B.K. Singh represented the CBI and Amit Khemka Yadav Singh in the court.

The accused was arrested on February 3 on charges of abusing his official position to award contracts and causing wrongful loss to the government exchequer.
