Udupi, Sep 15: Union Labour minister Oscar Fernandes has informed the state government to sanction pension for all working class people aged above 65 years.

Addressing a gathering here, Fernandes stated that the UPA government is trying its level best to eradicate problems faced by the working class. It has introduced a rural employment guarantee scheme, by which it aims to raise the percentage of employment in the country.

Fernandes declared that several infrastructure projects have been developed by the UPA government especially in rural areas. Further according to him Gandhiji and his ideologies are always relevant even in today’s times, he was citing the example of the debate relating to Gandhiji’s ideologies.

On this occasion District congress president M A Gafur released the list of the congress candidates for the upcoming local body polls.

Former MP Vinaykumar Sorake, Byndoor MLA Gopal Poojary, senior Congress leaders B Poojary, Vasanth Salian and former MLA U R Sabhapathi were present.
