In UP, mercury climbs seven degrees

Lucknow, Feb 15 (IANS): After a brief winter spell, the mercury began a steady climb in the capital and most parts of the state, a weather official said on Monday.

The maximum temperature in the last two days climbed to 7 degrees and is now averaging at 30 degrees celsius, five notches above the season's average.

The mercury had not touched 30 degrees celsius since 2013.

Due to "dry weather" conditions, the Met office pointed out, even the minimum temperature has gone up by two degrees celsius and was 11.3 degrees celsius.

This is one degree above normal for this part of the month.

The weather however, is slightly cold in the nights owing to the "north-pachua" winds.
