Pro-Afzal Guru slogans raised in Jadavpur University rally


Kolkata, Feb 16 (PTI): Slogans in favour of Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru were raised in a rally brought out by Jadavpur University students here today to express solidarity with their JNU counterparts agitating against the arrest of their leader Kanhaiya Kumar for alleged sedition.

During the torch rally brought from JU campus to Gol Park in South Kolkata by students of all faculties of the university, slogans like "Afzal bole azadi, Geelani bole azadi" and "Chhinke lenge azadi" were raised.

Other slogans like "Freedom from RSS, freedom from Modi government", "Jab Kashmir ne maangi azadi, Manipur bhi boli azadi" were also raised.

When contacted, SFI local committee secretary Samanya Raha, who took part in the rally, said it was a "mass gathering" to protest against the arrest of Kanhaiya Kumar on the charge of sedition.

    As a fall out of JNU, the govt today transferred Meena and 13 top police personnel to remote areas. Also, by JNU issue,there is a feeling that congress will not let go a chance to win over the youth.

    Rahul Ghandhi has suceeded in making Afzal Guru Giii the hero of the nation . I think statue of afzal guru is on the manifesto of congress now . This can only happen in India. Govt should take action no matter how much drama they do

    If raising pro Afzal Guru slogans during the rally in Jadavpur university is wrong as per the constitution and Indian law can be questioned by the compitant authority in the court.

    Sanghi agents are joining such rallies and raising such anti-India and pro-Afzal slogans to show that leftist student unions are showing anti-nationalism.
    Two days back Sanghi gundas disguised as Lawyers in Delhi Court and attacked the JNU students who were being brought by police for hearing.
