Panaji, Sep 17: The first phase of 'visarjan' (immersion) ceremony of a day-and-a-half Ganesh was carried out with great enthusiasm across the state on Sunday night.
The next Visarjan will be held on the 5th day, then on the 7th day, then 9th, 11th and 21st day of the Ganesh Chaturthi celebration.
At most of the Sarvajanik Ganapati Mandals, Visarjan will be done on the 11th Day, known as the Anant Chaturdashi in the Hindu religious calendar. Hundreds of people were seen in groups with the Ganesh Idols on different ferry wharfs, jetties, river banks and lake points during the Visarjan night.
The atmosphere was aglow with aaratis and Gajars requesting the Wisdom God to come soon to their houses next year with lots and lots of happiness and peace.
The most heard chants were..."Ganapati Bappa Morya...Fudlya Varsa lavkar ya..Morya re Bappa Morya re......"
