Congress won't allow students' voice to be crushed: Rahul

New Delhi, Feb 18 (IANS): Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi on Thursday met President Pranab Mukherjee over the JNU row, vowing his party won't allow the government to "crush" the students' voice in India.

"It is not the government's job to destroy institutions in India," Gandhi said, after he met the president at the Rashtrapati Bhavan here.

He accused the government of imposing the "flawed" RSS ideology over the student community in India to "crush their imagination, their dreams".

"The Congress won't allow it to happen. It has damaged India's global image."

The Congress leader was accompanied, among others by Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad for the meeting with the president.

Reacting to BJP's criticism over supporting agitating Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) students over the arrest of their union leader Kanhaiya Kumar, Gandhi said: "Nationalism runs in my blood. I have seen my family sacrifice for the nation again and again."

He however said that if anybody has said anything against the country, "they should be dealt according to the law".

As always. a Loser. little does he know that if If 9/11 had happened in India, Rahul Khandi would have eulogized Osama Bin Laden . JNU students led protests for him, with Digvijay Singh, Mahesh Bhatt with other great leaders would have called this as a RSS conpiracy. There would have been protests to name a road by his name in lutyens Delhi. Nitish Kumar would have labeled Osama as "Son of Bihar", Akhilesh yadav would have awarded crores of rupees and n number of flats to Osama's family, and Indian presstitutes "Burkha" Dutt and Rajdeep would have shown how sad and heart broken is Osama's family, All the Seculars would have signed a mercy petition to UNO for Osama while doing candle march to India Gate, Kejriwal would have called punishment to Osama as "Murder of Democracy", Momta Di would have called West Bengal bandh to protest in support of Osama and Congress would have for sure given him a Bharat Ratna.

Nation awaits to see how the congress is going to protect the "right to debate" and "right to dissent" by the youth especially those in universities. We expect the issue to be debated in Parliament especially on what constitutes sedition. The entire text of JNU leaders' speech put up on Daijiworld news as a comment by Jayaprakash, Mangalore/SFO Thursday, February 18, 2016 does not reflect any semblance of sedition. The speech is an expression of frustration over suppression and intolerance towards daliths by the present Central Government. Congress should redefine sedition in the statute books. No point in carrying on the age old british definitions which aimed at suppressing the Indians in order to continue their rule. There were instances when a former CM of undivided Andhra pradesh (who is no more) had asked the army to revolt against the Union of India which amounted to sedition and nothing was done. Such grave acts are condoned and an angry speech termed as sedition. PM Modi made number of false promises to the youth prior to the lok sabha elections. Now the youth are fooled royally.

As a student, I backup RG for his extended support to JNU students. There was no clear evidence collected yet still Kanhaiya Kumar was beaten up by so called lawyers in front of police and BJP want to call him as anti national. Should we support them just because ABVP is also involved?

You don't know anything about India, You are dump Pappu, your fore fathers during independent were just name sake, they didn't do anything other than Anti national Activities. Declassified files clearly suggests that Your Family was against Dalith, and Bose. Your fore father w were living for Power and Money, same with you. Do you how your grandfather Nehru was living a lavish life during struggle for Independence. India got Independence because of Gandhi and Bose and many more except your grand father.

What Pappu says he only knows?

Its not Governments job to destroy institutions in India??

Is it opposition’s job to destroy India?

Is it Congress's job to destroy the civilians of India?

Is it the Congress job to destroy the peace in Indian society by opposing each & everything without thinking of National security??

Pappu supporting Anti nationalist, is it the true nationalism?

That’s why first join to any Indian reputed college , obtain you degree then you will understand all this.

Just paying money & purchasing degree Certificate from foreign university does not help you practically in your life.

That's why you are known as Pappu of India in Google search.
