Mangalore, Sep 18: As Monday, September 17 was the last day for filing nominations for the ensuing local body polls in various towns in the district, the picture became clear about the scramble for power.

Mangalore city and other towns are to go to polls on September 28. Final position will be known only aftr the scrutiny and withdrawal of nominations.

The BJP heads the list with 300 nominations, followed by Congress with 277, JDS 132, BSP 2, CPI 6, CPM 29 and independents 145.

The following is the townwise break-up of the nominations filed.
