BJP MLA O P Sharma arrested and released on bail

New Delhi, Feb 18 (PTI): BJP MLA O P Sharma, who was caught on camera beating a CPI activist at Patiala House court three days back, was arrested today.

The first-time MLA was questioned for around eight hours at the Tilak Marg police station in connection with the case. He was then arrested on charge of causing hurt and was released on bail, a senior police official said.

The Delhi Police had come under severe criticism for not taking action against the legislator despite having clear video footage showing him beating the CPI activist when the court was hearing the JNU case.

The police had yesterday served summons on Sharma following which he today presented himself before the investigators.

"He was arrested under charges of causing hurt and later granted bail," said a senior police official.

After coming out of the police station, Sharma told reporters, "If someone has to pay such a price for stopping a person who raised pro-Pakistan slogans, then I have got nothing to say."

Police had yesterday issued summons to him as well as three lawyers in connection with assault on journalists and JNU students and teachers and some other persons at the court complex on Monday. The lawyers are yet to depose before police.
Delhi Police has been under attack for not taking action against those involved in the assault at the court complex on Monday and yesterday.

What the trend I have observed recently is that where ever there is peace and tranquility, BJP, RSS, ABVP enter there and muddy everything!. Then they use the situation for their political advantage!. Just see the example of Udupi!, it is a very peaceful and never affected by any disturbances even if they occur in neighbouring areas! But ever since we got a outsider as MP, things are changing!. This MP is trying hard to destroy Udupi's unity and peaceful coexistence!

What can you expect from a BJP law maker? All are bunch of goondas. Their policy is if people don't agree with you, take law into your own hands and beat the guys.

Advocate Sharma was arrested and released for his excellent display of BJP love and street rowdyism combined. It seems like, he is a black belt holder.

Chances are, he may be appointed to a Cabinet post as
    "Minister of street physical exercise".

As the Go-raksha/Beef politics did not pay dividends in subsequent elections the BJP is now playing Patriotism Drama, which they want to spread across all the University campuses all over India.
Yesterday's Survey says that if Election takes place immediately now the BJP/NDA will come below 272 mark in Lok Sabha and losing majority as per IBN news.
