Mangalore, Sep 18: A farewell ceremony for the Special Olympic Karnataka team will be organised by the DK district special teachers’ Association for Mentally Challenged at the Town hall on Wednesday September 19, stated Association secretary Vansant Kumar Shetty here on Monday September 17.
 
Addressing press persons, he informed that the team will participate in Special Olympics World Games 2007, which will be held at Shanghai in China from October 1 to October 10. At the Olympics, fourteen members will participate, in which swimming coach Bharati Kottary form Hubli, Programme director Thangamma Jayachanddra and Donnet D’Souza from St Aloysius College will be the part of the team. Special invitee to the Olympics is Vasanth Kumar Shetty of Saanidhya residential school.

SOBK chairman Vijay Kant, Women and Child welfare department deputy director Gertrude Veigas, minister for Fisheries and Endowment B Nagaraj Shetty, State Bank of India AGM C M Tallur, Lions Vice district governor K Mohan Kamath and Lions Club president P S Prabhakar Shetty, will be the guests of honour for the farewell function.

St Aloysius College sports director Donnet D’Souza and Mohammed Basheer and Association president Sister Maria Shruthi A C were present at the press meet.
