Six injured as train coach derails in Uttar Pradesh


Lucknow, Feb 20 (IANS): At least six passengers were injured, two of them seriously, on Saturday when a general bogie of the Archana Express derailed at the Mughalsarai railway station in Uttar Pradesh, the Government Railway Police (GRP) said.

The train was going from Patna to Jammu Tawi. 

When the train reached Mughalsarai railway station and was chugging into platform No. 7, the general bogie derailed, leading to chaos. 

No deaths have been reported; the injured have been rushed to a nearby medical facility, said officials. 

Two of the injured, a woman and a youth, standing at the gate of the coach fell down and are in serious condition. 

Senior officials of the Northern Railway (NR) reached the spot to oversee the rescue operations. The derailed bogie was put back on to the tracks with great difficulty.

A probe has been ordered into the incident.
