Kuwait, Sep 19: The Feast of the nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary was celebrated devoutly and passionately by the parishioners of Belman at the spacious residence of James D’Sa, joint secretary recently.

Priya D’Souza, secretary led the Angelus and led the parishioners in reciting the Holy Rosary, followed by floral offerings and a song of praise to Mother Mary - Sakkad Sangatha Melyam and Moriyek Hogolsia.

Clifford, the association president in his opening address expressed the joy of the celebration of the birthday of our lady and warmly welcomed one and all.  Milk mixed with new corn was given to drink thanking God for the new harvest.

A minute of silence was observed as a mark of respect to the late William Noronha, a prominent parishioner of Belman, who was known for his many good deeds during his earthly sojourn.

James D’Sa, joint secretary delivered the festive message.

Games were conducted by Rita Rodrigues, cultural secretary. Asha Jane and Joswin accompanied with music to the melodious hymns in honour of Mother Mary. Spot prizes and housie-housie entertained the gathering. 

As the celebration drew to an end, prizes were awarded to the winners of the games. Prizes for the highest raffle sale, 1st and 2nd place was won by Vincent Andrade and James D’Sa respectively.

Jessie D’Cruz, vice-president proposed the vote of thanks. She applauded the efforts of committee members and the all-round support of BELWAK members who came together in unison to celebrate the birthday of our lady.

Vegetarian dinner comprising of 7 items and sweets prepared by Delhi Darbar Restaurant was served.

The celebration concluded with the singing of praises to Mother Mary – Maria Mai Muje.  This celebration was compered remarkably well by Clifford, president and James, joint secretary.
