Kundapur, Sep 19: Onam celebration, sponsored by the Keralite association for inter-state mutual harmony and trust was held here recently.
On this auspicious occasion, K Sudhakaran, ex-minister of Kerala state highlighted the present-day trend in exploiting caste and religion for spreading hatred and distrust among the various sections of our society.
Inaugurating the Onam celebration he said that the need of the hour of the present day nation was to focus on the benevolence of co-existence, mutual trust and a strong belief in socialism, which the Onam festival symbolizes for ages.
The president of the association, KC Shreeshan presided over the function.
AG Kodgi, chairman of the finance commission, Haladi Srinivas Shetty, sitting MLA of Kundapur, Dr Sudhakar Nambiyar, president of journalists association, Shridara Mogaveera, Rotary president of Kundapur and Sambashivan Nayar, secretary of Keralists association were the chief guests on the occasion.
