Mumbai, Sep 19: Indian shares rose to a new high in opening trade on Wednesday and climbed past 16,000 points after a bold US interest rate cut boosted Asian shares and eased worries about the health of the world's biggest economy.
At 9:58 am, the benchmark 30-share BSE index was up 2.74 percent, or 429.85 points, at 16,098.97, with all its components in the positive territory. Its previous all-time high of 15,868.85 was set on July 24.
