Mangalore, Sep 19: The roads across the city will be concreted soon and there will be no major changes in taxation in Mangalore, Janardan Poojary, member of Rajya Sabha and former KPCC president said to media persons here on Wednesday September 19.
Expressing his confidence of winning the MCC Polls, he said that Congress is like a family, where the party workers have to work together, some times sacrificing their personal interests. The work and sincere efforts take one to greater heights in Congress.
For the party and Congress men, the ethics and beliefs that are followed since time immemorial are important. Congress wants its party workers to follow those ethics and principles and never entertain those who join only to enjoy the powers or tickets in the elections.
The Congress has done its best to render justice to all communities, in spite of the reservation policies and party workers' resistance. It is baseless to state that a particular sect or community gets the lion share, for instance one particular community has seen variations in the seat allotment for its leaders in the past couple of years, he said.
The major developments of Mangalore are solely attributed to Congress and not to any other political party. The major projects like ONGC and MRPL are the fruits of the efforts by Congress. The recent projects like SEZ, P C B I R and others are also the efforts and cooperation by the congress leaders.
Defending himself against all the allegations made by Deve Gowda on various occasions, Poojari said the words and promises made by Deve Gowda himself are not kept up rather he has involved in blaming other political parties and criticizing it, which are far better than the party led by Gowda in ruling the country.
Speaking of the allegations made by Gowda regarding the Hassan- Mangalore railway, Poojary said that Gowda should think before speaking. He hardly knows the facts and turns his blind eyes to the facts which are of no value to him and his blind love towards his sons. Ignorance is not an excuse. It is hardly believable that he does not know the debates and discussions held by Poojary in the parliament.
Comparing the pre-election promises and post-election situations, he remarked that reservation was said to be the top priority of the party, but the time gap of ten months is not enough to make it a reality.
Bringing to light the previous development projects in Dakshina Kannada and other coastal districts, Poojari added the union government was pressurized in the case of Konkan Railway and the same will continue in case of Mangalore- Bangalore railway. Poojary also expressed his doubts regarding the political pressure by the state government on central government in case of the Hassan-Mangalore railway.
M G Hegde, Harikrishna Bantwal, the spoke person, Kallige Taranatha Shetty were present at the press conference.
