Karkala, Sep 20: A daily-wage labourer died of electrocution on Tuesday September 18 evening, at Kenjar, near here. The mishap occurred when Ravi (22) son of Chinnaswamy, resident of Bailoor, was engaged in painting a bank's building.
The youth, engaged in painting, was moving a metal ladder to another place. In this process, the edge of the ladder is said to have come into contact with live electric cables. Hit by a high-voltage shock, he collapsed on the spot, never to recover.
The locals managed to shut down the electric supply, and tirethey could not save him. Eyewitnesses said that the location of the transformer in the vicinity of the bank was responsible for the tragedy.
Ravi's father Chinnaswamy reported to hail from Tamil Nadu, has settled in Bailoor and but is employed in Calicut.
