Maheshwari sworn-in as Meghalaya HC chief justice


Shillong, Feb 24 (IANS): Justice Dinesh Maheshwari of Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court was on Wednesday sworn-in as the chief justice of the Meghalaya High Court.

Governor V. Shanmuganathan administered the oath of office to Chief Justice Maheshwari at a ceremony at Raj Bhavan.

Chief Minister Mukul Sangma, ministers, judges, legal and civil officials were present on the occasion.

Chief Justice Maheshwari, 57, succeeds Justice Uma Nath Singh who retired as chief justice on January 14. Since then, Justice Sudip Ranjan Singh served as the acting chief justice of the state high court.
