Udupi, Feb 26: A youth had a providential escape in the early hours of Friday February 26 after the car he was driving hit a divider and rolled over four times before coming to a halt. The driver was allegedly drunk.
The accident took place near Inox theatre, Manipal at around 2.30 am.
The identity of the driver is not known, but police sources said that he was a student from Hyderabad studying in the first year at MIT, Manipal.
The youth was on his way from Manipal to Udupi when the accident took place.
The Fortuner car hit the divider, rolled over four times and also hit two electric poles. The impact was such that both the poles were uprooted. Luckily, the airbags in the car saved the youth and he escaped with minor injuries on the hand.
Police sources said that the youth was driving under the influence of alcohol. Soon after the accident, he went to his residence at Ishwarnagar by another car, sources said.
A case is yet to be registered in Manipal police station.
