JNU row: Lawyers assaulted me but police stayed mum, says Kanhaiya Kumar

New Delhi, Feb 27 (Zee News): Jawaharlal Nehru University Students' Union president Kanhaiya Kumar, arrested on charges of sedition, has said that he was beaten by a group of lawyers in the presence of police personnel in Patiala House court premises on February 17.

In a statement Kanhaiya Kumar recorded before senior lawyers of the Supreme Court, the JNUSU president said that he was attacked as soon as he entered the court.

The exclusive video of the statement has been accessed by CNN-IBN.

"The lawyers pushed me to the ground, beat me black and blue. My clothes were torn. But the police remained silent."

"Those who beat me were dressed up like lawyers, and asked others to join them. They abused me. I identified one of the lawyers in the courtroom and told police about it but no action was taken," added Kumar.

Meanwhile, a report on Saturday said that security of Kanhaiya Kumar has been beefed up in Tihar Prison, where he is lodged.

Kanhaiya Kumar was arrested on February 12 after the event held on the university campus in commemoration of the death of Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru who was executed in 2013. He allegedly shouted anti-India slogans at the event.

The whole JNU affair reminds me of the attacks on Christians and churches in Mangalore. If the readers have read Justice Saldanha's report on the church attacks, the similarities of the modus operandi of theses attacks, the collision between the police and the sanghi goondas, it is not a mystery. The report is very clear as to how the whole thing was pre-planned, with the aid of the police, rocks were collected from the stream/river beds, put into pick-up trucks, churches and church goers were surrounded, rocks were pelted, police lathi charged almost 100% of the church goers above the waist level, teargas shells which expired a decade ago and were toxic were used repeatedly by the police, even after knowing about it as it had already appeared in the news....and all this was protected by the Karnataka government, especially the state home minister (may his soul rest in peace) of the time. The report also states that the injured Christians were returned from hospitals and not admitted, police did not file FIRs against the goons but in turn filed FIRs against the innocent Christians. In effect, Christians had no place to go to, no one to turn to, as the supposed to be guardians themselves were waiting in ambush for them. I feel what happened in Mangalore is now happening in JNU & Andhra....but now at the national level. You don't have to be super smart to join the dots......the party ruling Karnataka at that time is now ruling India....Can you expect anything else from them? Remember our beloved MMS's warning about bringing BJP to power now? Do you miss him.....but its a bit too late.

Our country is going through an und form of emergency. In 1975, the government declared about the emergency but now it is coming in various forms. The only difference is it was officially declared then, now it is not. Are these the 'ache din' we were all promised? It is now as clear as daylight what the intentions of this government are.

This entire drama of anti-national slogans was stage managed by RSS/BJP/ABVP. The only & only reason was they wanted to teach a lesson to kanhaiya who openly questioned RSS ideology, safronization, manuvad, caste based preference, right wing terror etc. The ABVP with some anti-nationals doctored the video's first to fix kanhaiya in sedition chq.
This is bigger conspiracy by bjp to frame people who question their ideology and they very well new framing somebody with sedition is the only way they can get sympathy and mass support.
I feel even the patiala court incident was stage managed by bjp to arose nationalism sentiment in order to put more fuel in the fire.

Mr.Jeevan, Here it is not proved that it is kanhayya who shouted anti national slogans. Video clips of some other incidents is added here. (It is already proved). Why can't it be the same case as the Bajrangis hoisting Pakistan flag in Hubli and blaming Muslims and many Muslim youths being arrested. Why not from those masked men who were shouting anti Indian slogans were not arrested?. There is a famous saying-You can fool everybody for some time, you can fool few always but you can not fool all always.A very dangerous game is going on in our country with the patronage of RSS-BJP-VHP-Bajrangi nexus. God save our country.
