Mangaluru, Feb 27: A minor girl has been abducted allegedly by a Bajrang Dal activist at Kumpala under Ullal police limits.

Shashi (21), a resident of Moorukatte, Kumpala, has been accused of kidnapping a 16-year-old girl studying in standard 10th in a private school.

On February 20, the girl went to school but did not return home. When her worried family members enquired in the neighbourhood, they learnt that Shashi too had gone missing the same day.

The girl's parents then lodged a complaint in Ullal police station accusing Shashi of abducting their daughter.

Shashi, a Bajrang Dal activist, does welding work in a shop at Kumpala.

Sources said that Shashi used to meet the girl on her way to school and developed friendship with her. Her parents have accused him of misusing the friendship and abducting her.

The Ullal police have registered a case and taken some of Shashi's friends for questioning. A search for Shashi and the girl are on.
