Mangaluru, Feb 28: Team India test cricketer K L Rahul, a Mangalurean, on Sunday February 28 inaugurated the renovated largest gym of the city, 'Zuese Fitness Club', located near Canara College, MG Road here.
He started his inaugural address in Tulu, saying "Yenna Tulu patherre yedde undu, speech korre yedde ijji (My Tulu is good, but not as good that I can give a speech)".
Switching over to English, he said, "Whenever I come here they (Zuese team) let me use the gym. I like to thank them for that. Zuese is the biggest gym in the city and I wish the team good luck in helping the people of Mangaluru live a healthy lifestyle. Young people have already realized the importance of fitness. I want to reach out to the older generation and tell them that going to gym is not just limited to the younger generation. In fact, it is not limited to any generation. There is no good day or good time to start working out. Start any day. There are qualified trainers. People think that going to gym means lifting weights and all that. But it is all about fitness. Develop a healthy and better lifestyle. You will be happier when you leave the gym. I too come with many tensions in mind but after my workout the mental stress goes away. I feel more confident.
"This gym is like a gift to the people of Mangaluru. The trainers are themselves athletes. I would like to tell parents, if you have kids younger than 15, this is the best time to get them to gym and make them more disciplined," he added.
Celebrity trainer Sonali Swamy said, "Fitness starts from family and what better than Zuese family. Women need to take 30 minutes from their hectic 24 hours to focus on their health, or else how can they give cent percent to their families? It is important for everybody to have a healthy life. If you are healthy, it just brings out a new and stronger you. I am 40 and have two children. I just came into this field when I was 38. Just follow your heart, age is just a number. I wish everyone a healthy life."
MLA of Mangaluru South J R Lobo said, "We are lucky to have such a big gym equipped with so many facilities. I wish Zuese team good luck."
K L Rahul and Sonali Swamy were also honoured on the occasion.
Zeuse gym staff who made the city proud by winning laurels in national and international bodybuilding competitions were also honoured. The performances of senior bodybuilder Ravi, team RDX and Zumba instructors entertained the gathering.
Ministers U T Khader and Ramanath Rai visited the gym and wished good luck to the management.
Director of the gym Shrinivas Shetty, Richie Poovayya, co-directors Abhilash were present on the occasion.
Prior to the inauguration, team Zero Gravity wowed the audience with jaw-dropping bike stunts. The programmed was compered by Abhijith Karkera.
