Beijing, Feb 29 (IANS): China's state-owned Harbin Electric Corporation said it has signed a contract with Pakistan Siddiqsons Energy to build a coal-fired power plant.

The new power station, with installed capacity of 350 MW, will be located near the Bin Qasim port in Karachi, Xinhua news agency reported on Monday.

Construction will start in July and be completed in 31 months, the statement said.

Harbin Electric has built about 30 percent of Pakistan's power stations.
