Mangalore, Sep 22: The election office of Denis D’Silva, Congress candidate for Kankanady B (49) ward in MCC elections was inaugurated at Ekkur here, on Friday, Sept. 21, by the Union Administrative Reforms Commission chairman and former chief minister M Veerappa Moily.
Speaking on the occasion, D’Silva stated that Congress party has contributed largely to the overall betterment of all citizens of India. Whereas BJP has never done so, and hence he averred Congress has been successful in retaining its hold and survive.
The BJP on the other hand he said has been engaged in curbing the minds of the people by creating communal tensions in the society. Hence, the voters should keep the BJP away from power, he cautioned voters.
Moily proudly stated that Congress has given opportunities to youngsters in MCC elections this time round. Kankanady B ward candidate Denis D’Silva is one of them. Being a post graduate, he can contribute a lot for maintaining peace and harmony in this ward, Moily added.
Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy president Erik Ozerio, MLAs Abhayachandra Jain and U T Khader, former MLA Vijaykumar Shetty, Congress leaders Suresh Ballal, Denis D’Souza, Tejomaya, Vishwasdas Kumar, Sesamma, Vidya R Bhat, Ivan D’Souza, Shivaji Rao Sindhya, Prabhakar Shetty, Abdul Rahiman and others were present on the occasion.
Gopal Shetty welcomed the gathering. Denis D’Silva proposed the vote of thanks. Arun Ajekar compered the programme.
