Mangalore, Sep 23: A four-day national festival is being jointly organized by the Sangeet Natak Academy, New Delhi and Sri Devi Nritya Kendra here, showcasing the various dance forms of different parts of the country, October 8 onwards.
Informing about the same Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, president of the Dakshina Kannada Sahitya Parishat told mediapersons here on Saturday, September 22 that various dance forms like Punchuram and Basantharas of Manipur, Mohiniyattam and Kathakali of Kerala, Bharatanatyam of Tamil Nadu, Kathak, Orissa's Odissi, Chavoo, Sirkella, Kuchupudi of Andhra Pradesh, and Assam's Satriya would be performed at the forthcoming festival.
Further Kalkura informed that the 'National Dance Talent Utsav' is being held here for the first time, and even stated that more than 150 artistes from different parts of the country will be participating in the talent contest.
Renowned danseuse Maya Rao will inaugurate the festival and five troupes will perform each day, Kalkura added.
