Udupi, Mar 4: "The semester results of first grade colleges under Mangalore University are out. Both students and teachers are perplexed with the delayed as well as erroneous results. While students who usually pass have failed, those who have not appeared for the examinations have passed," alleged students Prashasti and Ram Ganesh.
Addressing a press meet, they said that some students have secured zero marks and that there are several other confusions. "The students have decided to protest in front of Mangalore University if the university does not take suitable action. The first, second and third year semester results are displayed in the Mangalore University website. Though the examinations were held in October, the results were announced only on February 22. BA degree results are still not declared.
"Some students who have always excelled have failed due to irresponsible valuation and confusion in the university. Students who have secured good marks in internals have failed and those who have not answered the examination have secured marks. Some students who have answered the examination have secured zero marks. If we enquire with the University about it over the phone, we only receive evasive replies and the college principals too are unable to do anything about it," they said.
"Requests for revaluations can be submitted only after receiving marksheets. A shadow of uncertainty is troubling the students who are worried what they would do if the same results were to be reflected in the marksheets," they said. Several college students gave details about the marks secured by them through national student parents' association and warned of protests in front of the university if the confusion is not set right within a week.
"On the whole, the students are in distress and some rank students have also secured low marks. Some of those who have answered the examinations are marked as absent," they said.
