Cong should be ashamed of Rahul's visit to JNU campus: Shah

Vrindavan, Mar 5 (PTI): BJP chief Amit Shah today attacked Congress over the JNU row, saying it should be 'ashamed' of Rahul Gandhi's visit to the campus and questioned whether 'anti-national slogans' can be called freedom of speech.

Addressing a meeting of Bhartiya Janata Yuva Morcha, BJP's youth wing, he said the JNU row was about the party's core issue of nationalism and invoked its Ram Janambhumi campaign to buttress his point besides its role in Goa and Hyderabad liberation movement.

"A strange atmosphere has been created. Anti-national slogans are being projected as freedom of expression... Congress should be ashamed that its vice president goes to the campus and says these (slogans) should be heard as there is freedom of expression.

"If these slogans are freedom of expression, then what is treason?" he said seeking Congress chief Sonia Gandhi's views on whether she agrees with her son on this.

Shah asked party workers to work hard to ensure that it remains in power at the Centre for 25 years so that India could become the 'vishwaguru' as it was not possible in five years.

"In five years there could be development and high growth rate and borders could be made safe but if India has to be 'vishwaguru', then it is a must that BJP is in government for 25 years," he said.

Underlining party's Hindutva credentials, he said Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended Ganga aarti with pride and went to Pashupati Nath temple in Nepal to seek blessing.

The party wants India to have top IT and MBA professionals, who also seek their "inspiration" from Swami Vivekananda, he said.

The BJP chief also made fun of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to attack Congress and hail Modi's leadership, saying Singh visited more countries than Modi but his tours made little impact.

"He would read from two pages he carried with him which were written in English. At times, he would read the speech meant for Thailand in Malaysia and the one for Malaysia in Thailand... Modiji spoke in Hindi in the UN and the whole country felt proud," Shah said.
The biggest work the Modi government has done is to make the country's borders safe, he claimed.

Invoking a number of Centre's schemes aimed at welfare of youth and farmers, he said the government has made a beginning for "miraculous" change in the country.

Amit Shah is a Jain, and in our 13 lakh strong army there is not even a single Jain either as Soldier or even as Technical officer. So, first let Amit Jain Shah ask his fellow caste people to join Army and show their patriotism instead of just concentrating on hoarding & black-marketing of food items like Daal all over India.

After watching the last week PM speech at the parliant for 70 minutes,I have realised that we have a chosen wrong candidate as PM and we are paying a big price for another three years.
The PM speech is nothing but a drama sequence where he simply creates scene of politics and find excuses on why the two years just went without much work.
The JNU issue will fire back very soon because now the country knows who is the culprit.
It is the ABVP who played a prepared pre-planned episode to divert the attention of the nation.

Lets assume that Commrade Kanhaiya did not shout anti national slogans which he has cleverly disowned and used as a launching pad into politics and national television. But will you and me or any reader of daijiworld ever stand beside a person or persons shouting antinational slongans of the kind we saw at JNU. If in any other country he would have been put into the dungeons or handed over to the firing squad. Even the court has made an observation that it is better to treat an illness to help him stay in the mainstream. Frankly speaking media has sold its conscience here in our country long back because we do no know the value of freedom. we havent earned it. It is being given to us without a cost by those selfless soldiers at the border who get martyred everyday..how can we ever support these communists and maoists ever ever and fall into their trap. Sadly the battered Congress has shamelessly lent a helping hand to them in order to corner its rival never ever thinking about the country. Indira Gandhi would have never done this..Sad..at least should happen in the case of our nation.

@G M Hegde, Udupi: I really liked your following comment "Lets assume that Commrade Kanhaiya did not shout anti national slogans which he has cleverly disowned". Now tell is it like Feku cleverly disowned that he promised 15 lacs, create jobs, bring black money, make 1$ equal to 1 rupee or is it like Soosamma cleverly disowned that she did not made any money out of Modigate or Rajasthan CM not made money out of Vyapam or Jootley was honest when he was in charge of DDCA or Bangaru Laxman did not made money out of our jawans coffin? When I was in the University we had a GM Hedge in Udupi who was the mouth piece of BJP and RSS to which I was affiliated as well but thank God I was clever enough to understand the hidden agenda of RSS and BJP and came out as an independent person rather than nodding the head like a bhakth. To start with, there is no such term as "anti – national" in Indian law.

I do not hold any brief for Raul Gandhi. He is a person of below average intelligence and his continuing in his present position is causing serious damage to the party. It is time to replace the Gandhi family redundant leadership by educated young leadership like Jyotiraditya Scindia and Sachin pilot immediately, so that they have enough time to rejuvenate the party before the next elections to the Parliament. If these measures are not taken, there is a good possibility of the Congress party disappearing from the Indian political scene.
