Man held near IAF station in Bengal

Kolkata, March 6 (IANS): A man was detained after he was found moving suspiciously around the Panagarh air force station in West Bengal's Burdwan district, an air force officer said.

"According to locals, two people were moving around the IAF station suspiciously. While one person was apprehended and handed over to the police, the search is on for the other," said the officer.

"Police who are interrogating the suspect, however, are not sure if there was a second person too ," added the officer.

Meanwhile, in another incident outside the IAF station, three people sustained injuries and several vehicles caused fire while an empty oil tanker caught fire while it was being welded.

"It seems some of the inflammable liquid was still inside the tanker. The flickers from the welding torch caused a fire in the tanker which speared to other vehicles parked nearby. Four fire engines were pressed into service and the fire has been extinguished," said a police officer.
