Gunfight breaks out n Kashmir


Srinagar, March 6 (IANS): A gunfight between security forces and separatist guerrillas broke out in Jammu and Kashmir's Kulgam district on Sunday evening, police said.

"Following specific information about the presence of militants in Buchroo village of Kulgam, security forces surrounded a house there in the evening.

"As the security forces closed in, they came under heavy gunfire from the hiding militants after which an gunfight started and is going on (as of 8 p.m.)," a senior police officer told IANS here.

"Two militants are believed to be hiding inside the house," the police officer added.
