Women legislators' conference resolves to build 'Resurgent India'


New Delhi, March 6 (IANS): The National Conference of Women Legislators on Sunday adopted a resolution to work for transparent, accountable and inclusive governance and to contribute the task of building a 'Resurgent India'.

The resolution was adopted by conference participants in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan and former president Pratibha Patil.

The resolution, adopted at the valedictory function of the two-day conference, also said that the participants would strive for social and financial inclusion to ensure equal opportunities to all.

The resolution further said: "...will promote grass-root entrepreneurship, and improve the skill levels of the workforce, promote increased role of women in financial decision-making and fostering financial literacy among the masses."

"Engage with elected women representatives at the municipal and panchayat levels regularly as bridges of constructive dialogue between and among the people, the states and the Union," the resolution added.
