Mumbai, Sep 25: Imported cigarettes worth over Rs 1 lakh, allegedly smuggled into India were seized by the Railway Protection Force from a Chennai train.

During a surprise check carried out by RPF officials at Dadar station on Saturday September 22, the cigarette sticks of 'Benson and Hedges' and '555' brands were found in the goods compartment of a passenger train that arrived from Chennai, said RPF sources.

The railways had leased the compartment to Sri Murugan Clearing and Forwarding Agency and a person identified as Suleiman was supposed to collect the material, they said.
