MUMBAI, Sep 25: Thousands of devotees flocked to Lalbaug area here on Tuesday morning to offer their prayers to lord Ganesh on the occasion of Anant Chaturdashi, the final day for immersion of Ganesh idols.

Chants of "Ganpati Bappa Morya, pudchya varshi lavkar ya" rent the air as a procession carrying the famous "Lalbaugcha Raja" (huge idol of the elephant god) started from Lalbaug in central Mumbai at around 11.00 am.

"The Raja, placed over a decorated "Rath" (chariot) will reach the main venue of Girgaum Chowpatty in southern Mumbai on Wednesday morning by around 5:00 am," a volunteer of the mandal told.

"The Raja will traverse from Chinchpokli, Byculla station, Nagpada, Two-Taki and Kumbharwada before reaching Girgaum Chowpatty, an area along the sea-shore, to immerse the idol," he said.
