RTI report on Muslims fabricated: AYUSH ministry

New Delhi, Mar 13 (IANS) : The AYUSH ministry on Saturday expressed "anguish" at the mischievous misinformation being spread in a section of media and social media and termed as "fabricated" a purported RTI reply that had claimed that the central government does not recruit Muslims in the ministry as a policy.

"The ministry of AYUSH has noted with anguish certain mischievous misinformation being spread in certain section of media and social media quoting a reply to an RTI by mentioning a fabricated draft as annexure I to that letter, which has never been issued by the ministry or any of its agencies. The ministry strongly condemns this piece of misreporting," said a strongly-worded statement from the ministry.

It said that the contents regarding religion based data "are not only fabricated but factually incorrect".

The response of the ministry's international cooperation section clearly said that invitations were sent to yoga experts/enthusiasts without reference to their religions, and added the ministry is initiating "appropriate action" in the matter.

The statement cautioned that such misreporting was aimed at causing "chasm" between different sections of society and promoting disharmony and mistrust.

The response came in response to a series of RTI applications by a journalist who had sought the number of Muslim yoga teachers and trainers hired for foreign assignments during the first World Yoga Day on June 21 last year.

"As per government policy: no Muslim candidate was invited, selected or sent abroad," the reply was quoted as saying.

The ministry, however, on Saturday said that an RTI request dated September 17, 2015 was received from Pushp Sharma which sought information about various issues including how many times yoga councils were formulated in last ten years, detail list of each council, name of Yoga council members who got selected and how many Muslim candidates were invited.

It said that on receipt of the query, it forwarded this RTI request to its three agencies, namely the Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga, Central Council for Research in Yoga and Naturopathy and its international cooperation wing.

"This is a simple forwarding letter under section 6(3) of RTI Act and therefore does not contain any reply to the queries.

"The same forwarding letter of the ministry has been used by a section of the media in this matter, but with a non-existent, fictitious 'ANNEXURE- I', (which has never been issued by the ministry)," it said.

These sickulars seems to have no other agenda other than looking for something to blame modi
why are they linking yoga to hindusim?

first and foremost, someone has to come to learn yoga
    then build expertise
then willing to join as a teacher

if some communities, people coming forward to learn yoga is so little may be they don't have interest, , how will you force them t join as teachers? is it like some reservation even here?

don't understand when will these sicklars grow up. They just want to take up the cause of musllims without having any basis.

Substantively everyone should welcome AYUSH ministry's statement...,

From the AYUSH Ministry statement, it is imperatively very clear that yoga need not or should not be attached with any religious color/bias.

Yoga is one of the ancient form of exercise pre-dominantly practiced in Hindustan by the elite class to control their body, mind & soul. These 3 elements of human being is common in every individual whether he practice Islam or Hinduism or Christianity.

If someone try to say & impose that it is parto of or attached or associated with Hindu religion, then i doubt any believers of Islam or Christianity can effectively practice yoga in its true spirit..., b'coz such views over ride mind & soul which is conditioned by religious practice which in reality rejects the integration of body, mind & soul in a human being thus defeating the benefits of yoga itself.

I welcome any alternate best views on this from secular mindset intellectuals.

..good analysis..no one see YOGA as Hindu property except Congr#s#..YOGA is universal same like AYURVEDA even if it is came from Hinduism!!..but just look what a controversy they created along with some cheerleader media..it was not forced, it was not communal ,it is not haraam(count the no.of muslim countries participated)..But for Cong#es#, whatever MODI initiates they see it with communal prism..and pity is no community leader realises what damage sickulars doing for them..just search statements during YOGA day & now..one who opposed earlier, now it seems they supports YOGA..this is how sickular parties confuses a community, alienates from main stream just for vote bank..more dangerous is, these sicular parties wont allow the community to realise the danger the some of their own youth posing (terror has no religion)..many think IM/SIMI is ficticious, Batla/26*11 fake, ISHART/AFZAL/KASAB is innocent..

    @ Ramesh,

In no part of my submission/views neither i invoked nor referred any political party.., but your intolerance towards congress & few terrorist organisations (though terrorism has no religious color but your narratives are biased & selective) proves beyond reasonable doubt that you are severely suffer from Congress phobia.

On a lighter side.., apparently, I don't think even yoga may cure this..,

If we see & think rationally the posture of prayer in Islam (which constitute lot of bending exercise - general known to be a posture of humility before almighty) definitely reveal few good healthy points for a human being to practice in the best interest of body, mind & soul.

However, Hindu believers definitely don't practice it, b'coz it is seen with an element of religious relevance.

The same is true among Islam followers based on their thinking about any form of exercise be it kneeling down or yoga.
