Quota for affluents deviation from Constitution's spirit: RSS

Nagaur (Rajasthan), March 13 (IANS): The RSS on Sunday said demands for reservation by the affluent sections of society only reflected deviation from the spirit of the Constitution.

"Reservation has helped weaker sections of the society and if the affluent sections demand reservation, it does not sound good," RSS general secretary Bhaiyyaji Joshi told media persons here.

He said this reflected a deviation from the sprit of the Constitution.

"This reflects a deviation from the thinking of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and the spirit of the Constitution. The affluent should surrender reservation for the uplift of the weaker sections," Joshi said.

The RSS's view on reservation came in the wake of the recent pro-quota agitation by the Jat community in Haryana and the Patel community's agitation in Gujarat.
