Hills near Shimla get snowfall


Shimla, Mar 14 (IANS): The nearby hills of the Himachal Pradesh capital saw moderate spells of snow on Monday morning after three days of intermittent rainfall.

While Shimla received snowflakes, upper areas like Kufri, Narkanda, Jubbal and Kotkhai got snowfall, according to a Met official here.

The hills overlooking Manali like the Rohtang Pass received snow. It rained in Manali town.

The high hills in Lahaul and Spiti, Kinnaur, Kullu, Shimla and Chamba districts have been experiencing light to moderate snowfall for the past three days, said a weather department official.

The minimum temperature in Shimla was 2.1 degrees Celsius and 0.4 degrees in Manali. Both the towns saw 15.5 mm and 11.6 mm rain, respectively.

Keylong in Lahaul and Spiti district was the coldest place in the state with a minimum temperature of minus four degrees Celsius.

Kalpa in Kinnaur district saw a low of minus 0.6 degrees Celsius while it was 8.8 degree Celsius in Dharamsala.

The Met Office has forecast partly cloudy conditions with spells of rain and snow in the state till Tuesday.
