12 militants killed in Afghan blast

Kabul, Mar 14 (IANS): At least 12 Islamic State (IS) militants were killed and 21 others injured in an explosion in Afghanistan's Nangarhar province, a military statement said on Monday.

"On Sunday, IS militants were building an improvised explosive device (IED) but the device exploded prematurely," Xinhua news agency reported citing the statement.

The IS militants tried to plant the IED in Achin district targetting security forces.
