Assess damage to crops: Kejriwal to official

New Delhi, March 14 (IANS): Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday directed Divisional Commissioner A. Anbarasu to estimate the damage caused to the farmers due to unexpected rains.

"Have asked Div Commissioner to assess damage caused to crops of farmers in Delhi due to unseasonal rains," Kejriwal tweeted.

The hailstorms and rains in northern India have caused damage to winter crops like wheat and mustard. The Delhi government is assessing the damage caused.

Kejriwal had last year announced a compensation of Rs.50,000 per hectare of damaged crops to farmers in the national capital.
