Mother Teresa to be canonised on Sep 4: Pope

Vatican city, Mar 15 (IANS) : The Pope during consistory of cardinals on Tuesday announced September 4 as the date for Mother Teresa's canonisation, the media reported.

After months of anticipation, the date for Mother Teresa's canonisation was announced as September 4, which this year will also mark a special jubilee for workers and volunteers of mercy, Catholic News Agency cited Pope Francis as saying.

Mother Teresa was born Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu on August 26, 1910, in Skopje, Macedonia. After joining the Sisters of Loretto at the age of 17, she was sent to Calcutta, where she later contracted tuberculosis, and was sent to rest in Darjeeling.

On the way, she felt what she called an order from God to leave the convent and live among the poor.

After she left her convent, Mother Teresa began working in the slums, teaching poor children, and treating the sick in their homes.

She died on September 5, 1997, and was beatified just six years later by Pope John Paul II on October 19, 2003.

Great news to hear Mother Teresa's canonization to sainthood to be held on 4th September 2016.

We have seen Mother Teresa's great work for the poor, for the sick, for the needy, her simplicity & obedience to god, selfless help to humanity around the globe especially in Kolkata.

We were blessed meet her personally and kiss her hands and take her blessings during Fr. Muller Hospital centenary celebration in Mangaluru, many years ago when we were little boys.

Even after her death she has been sending her blessings & granting favors to all those people who pray to her.

We have been praying to Mother Teresa after her death for all our favors & needs and she has been blessing us generously.

St. Mother Teresa pray for all of us & bless us. Pray for peace in the world.

It is no surprise that Mother Teresa will be canonised on Sept.4 by Pope Francis. She believed in the true God and helped the poor and needy in the worst condition. She lived with the lepers and was helped by her sisters. She gave her life for them till her last breath.
