One killed, seven hurt in J&K highway accident


Jammu, March 17 (IANS): One person was killed and seven injured in a road accident on the Jammu-Srinagar national highway in Ramban district of Jammu region on Thursday.

Police said in winter capital Jammu that a Tata Sumo taxi went out of the driver's control at Gangroo (Ramsoo), on the 300-km-long Jammu-Srinagar national highway, and plunged into a deep gorge.

"The taxi skidded off the road and dropped into a river at Gangroo. One person was killed while seven others were injured," a senior police officer told IANS.

The vehicle was on way to Jammu from the Valley.
