Kundapur, Sep 28: A man who came from Bangalore to Trasi Beach near here drowned after rough waves engulfed him on Thursday September 27.

According to the police, the deceased has been identified as Ningappa (26), son of Sitayya, resident of Etakallu at Pavagadh taluk.  He was working as construction worker in Bangalore.  He along with his co-workers had come to Trasi as one Manjunath whose house they were building had brought them for picnic.

It is said that one Ningaraju stepped into the water and soon was in danger of being washed away. On noticing this Thangavelu and Ningappa went to help him. But, as the sea was violent they too started drowning.

The passersby noticed this and brought the rope that was tied to the truck which was parked near by. However they managed to rescue only Thangavelu and Ningaraju. But unfortunately they could not rescue Ningappa.

Ningappa's wife and son too were in the same group which had come for the picnic.  They stood helpless as Ningappa drowned right in front of their eyes.

Gangolli sub-inspector Thimmaraju along with his staff arrived at the spot immediately.  However, Ningappa’s body has not yet been traced.
