Moodbidri, Sep 28: The election process here for 23 wards at 27 booths is going on a dull process.
The reason behind this may be the people are not interested to contradict the known candidates contesting in opposite parties.
The 23 wards are Mariady, Ullasnagar, Alangar one and Alangar two, Ontikatte one and Ontikatte two, Samagaragundi, Bovikeri, Jainpete, Kotebagilu, Chamundi Betta, Kalsanka, Aranya Kachgeri, Bogru Gudde, Kayargunndi, Hudco Colony, Ladi, Kallabettu One, and Kallabettu Two, Gantalkatte, Karinje, Maroor One and Maroor Two.
This time 51 candidates contested in the election. In which 22 are congress, 17 are from JDS, 6 BJP, 1 CPM and 5 independent candidates.
The main leaders who contested are the APMC president K Krishnaraj Hegde for JD(S), PK Thohas Alangar (Congress) Premanand Prabhu, Harinaksi Suvarna, ex-presidents, Felix Lobo Haneef, Shridhar ex-vice president.
The leader of beedi workers Ramani contested for election with the support of the Congress and there are possibilities of winning the election and open the communist seat account in municipal history.
The resident MLA Abhayachandra and ex-minister Amaranath Shetty took an active part in the election as their prestigious place is this.
The voting is under strict supervision of returning officers and police force.
