Indian couple killed in Flydubai crash were returning after holiday

Mar 21 (Emirates247): It’s almost like they came to bid farewell to their loved ones. Indian couple Shyam Mohan and Anju were returning after a 50-day holiday in their hometown Perumbavoor when the ill-fated FlyDubai FZ981 crashed in Rostov-on-Don.

Their families are completely devastated and inconsolable. “His [Shyam’s] parents are unable to come to terms with it. They were very close as a family. They were more like friends,” said Jayan, Shyam’s childhood friend and neighbour.

“Shyam was such a hardworking person, and always willing to help. It was so nice to see him, and spend time with him. I can’t believe he’s gone,” he told Emirates24|7.

The 27-year-old worked as a software consultant in a private firm before enrolling for training to become an Ayurveda masseuse. He wanted to join Anju, who worked in Russia as an Ayurveda masseuse for five years.

She helped him find a job in the same centre that she was working in, said Jayan, adding, “A year after their marriage, they both moved to Russia.”

Jayan’s father C V Mohannan is a carpenter. His mother is Sheeba and his sister Sowmya is married.

Anju’s family lives 15km away from Shyam’s house, and both families are in touch.

“We are planning to hold a prayer meeting this evening, but nothing is finalised as we want to give the family time to grieve,” added Jayan.

Talking to Emirates24|7, Vijayan, Shyam’s uncle, said, “It’s a huge loss to our family. He was such a good boy.”

“We are still in shock. We don’t know what to do.”

FlyDubai has announced that it is paying families $20,000 (Dh73,500) per passenger as immediate relief following the accident on Saturday.

Great Condolences. May God be with the families. It sounds like the Jet crash was probably due to "wind shear", a phenomenon that often occurs on airport runways when the winds are very high and variable, often changing directions at a second's notice. This phenomenon often occurs during stormy weather or during the change of seasons in spring and autumn in the upper and lower latitudes of the globe. The United States Federal Aviation Commission became aware of this phenomenon some 30 years ago and placed "Wind Shear Detection Systems" at major airports.

I am just wanting to know what really went wrong. Both Emirates and Fly Dubai maintain their aircrafts to the highest saftey standards. I am sure it was not due to technical reasons that the crash was. Due to bad climate, it might be possible that the control tower may not have guided the pilot well during the landing approach. Whatever case, those innocent and precious lives are gone. May god rest all the departed soul in peace. May god give the families strength to bear this loss. Hope detailed report shall be out soon.

Life is nothing but a destiny of a human being. Destiny, as sad as this one is a sad episode of a "sad apology" that is not easy to convey to all those near and dear ones who know the tragic loss of the couple they know the best.

Tragedy of this kind and the sorrow and sadness created to the families left behind is predetermined but cannot be easily narrated.

While the young couple returning to Russia via Dubai is not a work of design but purely a predetermined destiny of life. Our possessions, our riches and our families and the sorrows that will linger for quite some time is all part of the heavenly plan that we all have to accept.
